The Secret to Waking Up Inspired
Especially when you feel emotionally and mentally stuck in the rut.
Waking Up to the Right Energy
You open your eyes in the morning, and before you even move, you remember.
Who you are. Where you are. What you need to do today. What it all means.
That’s helpful—until it isn’t.
If you’re trying to grow, shift how you show up, or change the way you move through the world, your environment can either hold you back or propel you forward.
The Power of Place
I’ve been diving deeper into Ethan Kross’ book Shift, exploring ways to manage emotions so they don’t manage me. On my podcast I’ve talked about coaching yourself in the second and third person and shifting your focus between past and future to create the emotions you need to move forward.
Another game-changer?
The spaces you surround yourself with.
The Power of Emotional Oases
I go to specific places to do my biggest thinking—somewhere that gives me limitless feeling, somewhere that expands my mindset, somewhere that makes anything feel possible. Preferably with a limitless ocean or sky view.
Every year, I spend time at my parents’ house. It reminds me how far I’ve come. It makes me feel safe, grounded, and cared for.
Wherever I stay in the world, I create a mini-shrine of inspiration—my speaker badges, photos of people who inspire me, reminders of the impossible things I’ve made happen, and the ones I’m working toward.
This is the energy I CHOOSE to wake up to.
And no matter my mood, fears, or old patterns, my environment helps me shift. It nudges me into the version of myself I’m committed to becoming.
Try This
If you want to change the way you feel CONSISTENTLY, start with your space.
✨Go somewhere that inspires you.
✨Add (or remove) things in your space to align with the person you want to be.
✨Look around—how does your space make you feel? What does it remind you of? What small shifts can you make to match the energy you want to carry?
Maybe a little weekend DIY project?
