Motivation to take action depends on dopamine levels. Dopamine levels are increased when you make something (anything) seem like an important part of the process to get some reward.
This technique (in the video) has been used for productivity and motivated action by elite performers and people who commit to getting things done for decades now.
Based on great neuroscience research as well.
Reward is a very subjective thing. You can tweak it with better self-talk.
